UFC Halifax video recap: Johny Hendricks gets back on track with win over Hector Lombard

It took a move in weight for former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks to get back on track following a three-fight skid. But he managed to do it.

“Bigg Rigg” made his middleweight debut against Hector Lombard, a fellow ex-welterweight, in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 105, which took place live from Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sunday evening.

Hendricks vs. Lombard was overall a very close contest; Lombard appeared to have a slight power advantage and landed some heavy shots throughout the bout, but Hendricks was more consistent. Lombard, to no one’s surprise, slowed down as time went on. That said, his cardio held up fairly well, better than other times, but not just as well as Hendricks’. The ex-titleholder also was light on his feet and used lots of movement, which gave him an advantage. He was able to avoid much of Lombard’s offense because of this. His knees were especially crisp, and he looked closer to the Hendricks who won the 170-pound title in 2014 — he’s still pretty far away from full form, but he’s definitely made a step forward even since his last fight (most likely because he’s not cutting an extra 15 pounds!).

What was the highlight of the fight?
Hendricks vs. Lombard was completely contested on the feet, and there wasn’t a knockout, so the highlight of the fight has to go to the most significant strike(s). And that would be Lombard’s round-one low blow ... just kidding. In all seriousness, Hendricks’ knees in the second round were pretty devastating. He actually scored quite a bit of solid clinch work, including some dirty boxing, so that was interesting to see. I’ll say Hendricks’ knees were the highlight of the fight, though I wouldn’t argue if someone had a different choice.

Where do these two go from here?
Hendricks has recently talked about retirement, most notably before his fight with Neil Magny, which he would lose by decision in December. But it doesn’t look like that’s the plan anymore, now that he’s back into the winning column in a different weight class, one he seems to be a lot happier in. I don’t think Hendricks can hang with the best fighters 185 pounds has to offer, but he’ll just go up from here. I wouldn’t mind seeing him against a top 10 opponent next.

Lombard has now lost three straight and is probably headed back to Bellator MMA. If this was the last fight on his contract it’s probably a given, and if it wasn’t, he’ll still probably find a pink slip headed his way in the near future. I guess I won’t be shocked if the UFC keeps him around for one more fight, considering he’s fought top competition — the aforementioned Magny, Dan Henderson and Hendricks — but if I had to put money on it, I’d say we’ll see him in a different organization next time out.

Watch now, later, or never?
Hendricks vs. Lombard was slow at the beginning, but its pace picked up as time went on. I’d check this fight out sooner than later.

Indian Premier League 2017: Afghanistan players Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan create history

Mohammad Nabi became the first Afghanistan player to be bought in an Indian Premier League auction. He was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 30 lakh. Nabi's countryman Rashid Khan fetched Rs 4 crore from SRH.

Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi will become the first Afghan cricketer to feature in the Indian Premier League after he was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for his base price of Rs 30 lakh.
Five out of the 352 players listed for the auction in Bangalore were from Afghanistan, who have made a rapid progress in international cricket.

Their players had won hearts in the 2015 World Cup and in the qualifying matches of the World T20 held in India last year.

Nabi's family had moved to Pakistan's Peshawar from Afghanistan during the peak of the Soviet War. It is there that a 10-year-old Nabi took up cricket and honed his skills to become one of Afghanistan's most reverred cricketers over the years.

Having made his ODI debut in 2009, Nabi quickly made a name for himself. He has so far played 72 one-day internationals and 52 T20Is.

In T20 Internationals, Nabi is a name to be reckoned with. His accurate off-spinners have so far fetched him 56 wickets and he boasts of a decent economy rate of 6.96.
And do not forget, Nabi ranks fourth in the ICC's all-rounders list for T20 Internationals.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad also gunned for Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan and shelled out Rs 4 crore for him.

The 18-year-old has played 21 T20 Internationals already and has snared 31 wickets. The leggie has an impressive economy rate of 6.14 which shows that he is extremely difficult to get away. David Warner, his skipper at SRH, should be thrilled with these two latest acquisitions.

Amir Marashi has performed 400 vaginoplasties on women with clients including basketball wives.

New York: Women across the world are becoming increasingly aware of their sexuality and are paying more attention to their body as they put their sexual pleasure first. More women going for hymen reconstruction, vaginal tightening and labiaplasty in India as well, signalling a change in the mindset.

In another part of the world, a doctor who is now popularly known as the ‘vagina whisperer’ is holding a ‘designer vagina showcase’ for women who might be looking for ways to enhance their vagina for a better sexual experience. Amir Marashi from New York has performed 400 vaginoplasties on women, with clients including singers and basketball wives.

He has been doing this for a while and says that he makes lives of women more comfortable by giving them confidence which can lead to the best sex they ever had and more orgasms than they dreamed of. The showcase is being held in New York and coincides with the NY Fashion Week.

While the surgeries are meant to increase confidence in women and make them feel sexier, there are also other reasons like some women wanting their labia shortened for making bicycle riding hassle free.

Nithya Menen is considered as lucky actress by number of film makers and it is the first time when she is sharing the screen pace with Jr.NTR whereas gorgeous actress Samantha has  acted with Tarak for 'Brindavanam', 'Ramayya Vastavayya' and 'Rabhasa'. It is the fourth time when she teamed up with Tarak. Except Brindavanam, remaining both were bombed at the box office. Now NTR’s fans are worried about it.

Saif Ali Khan's daughter ousts Disha Patani from Student of The Year 2

Actress Disha Patani has once again lost out on a role opposite rumoured beau Tiger Shroff in Karan Johar's Student of The Year 2 (SOTY 2). And guess who has bagged the role? It's another star kid, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter - Sara Ali Khan.

So, it is now confirmed that Sara is all set to make her Bollywood debut through Dharma Productions and will be playing the role of Tiger Shroff's love interest.

"I think she is going to debut with Karan. I am very happy she is working with Karan Johar because I think he is brilliant with newcomers and he will launch her correctly. He is a very intelligent and a passionate filmmaker and he understands films. I am very pleased that she is with him," said Saif to Pinkvilla on daughter's debut.

A source told DNA, “Disha was finalised as Tiger was keen to have her in the film. It would mean that this off-screeen pair would finally woo each other on-screen and that’s also interesting for the audience. Producer Karan Johar and director Punit agreed to Disha, as she has a pleasing personality and is confident on screen, as seen in her last release MS Dhoni: The Untold Story and Kung Fu Yoga with Jackie Chan. But for reasons best known to the makers, Disha has made way for Sara."

This is not the first time that MS Dhoni: The Untold Story actress lost the opportunity to romance her 'lover' on-screen. Even before this, Disha was ousted from 'Baaghi' and Shraddha Kapoor was roped in.

It is interesting to note that Sara's mother Amrita Singh and Tiger's father Jackie Shroff have worked together in four films and now their kids will be seen opposite each other. First instalment of 'Student of The Year' released in 2012 had Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.

Kangana Ranaut & Shahid Kapoor’s Cold War Hits The Roof As She Compares Him To Hrithik Roshan

Vishal Bhardwaj’s new film ‘Rangoon’ stars Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in a love triangle against the backdrop of World War II and all everybody is talking about is Shahid and Kangana’s intense love making scenes.

But if reports are to be believed, Shahid and Kangana’s equation off screen is quite the opposite. The two seem to have locked horns with each other and their recent interviews are proof. It all started when Kangana was asked what it was like to kiss Shahid in the film. Never to mince her words, Kangana called her experience of sharing a cottage with Shahid on the sets of ‘Rangoon’ a nightmare. "Shahid's moustache was horrible and it (kissing) would be disgusting. Then he would keep telling me that he has a runny nose which helps it to stick," she recently said.

Kangana Ranaut & Shahid Kapoors Cold War Hits The Roof As She Compares Him To Hrithik Roshan
DNA reported that Shahid Kapoor was rather surprised to hear the statement. He obviously didn’t hold back either. “I have to tell you that Kangana makes up things in her head. She has a vivid imagination. I don't remember telling her all this at all.” He told DNA.

Things only escalated from thereon. Kangana Ranaut hit back at him in an interview with Pinkvilla where she said “that line he (Shahid) must have borrowed from Hrithik. He would have thought that dude I will borrow these claims from Hrithik”. She compared him to her alleged ex Hrithik Roshan. Looks like this cold war is only going to get worse.

Uttar Pradesh Election 2017: Awadh region witnessed 45 of the 109 narrow-margin victories in 2012 polls

The battle for Uttar Pradesh has begun. Two phases of the seven-phase election are over and the polls to elect the 403-member state Assembly is reaching fever pitch. The biggest state in India is witnessing a three-cornered fight this election between the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance, Bharatiya Janata Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party. Multi-cornered contests have been the trend at least since 2002, when elections that year had thrown up a hung Assembly, while in the 2007 and 2012 polls, the BSP and the SP won clear mandates to form the government. With such contests emerge the possibility of many seats being won by a whisker.

In the 2012 Assembly elections, 109 seats were won by either less than three percent of the total votes polled or by a margin of less than 6,000 votes. This translates to more than 25 percent of the total seats of in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Of the 109 narrow margin victories witnessed last election, 50 of them were registered by the SP, which ultimately emerged victorious in 226 seats. BSP, its arch-rival was victorious in 28 such seats.

Interestingly, 24 of the 109 seats were won by less than a thousand votes. The narrowest of victory was recorded in the Baheri constituency, where Ataurrehman of the SP defeated his nearest rival Chhtrapal Singh of the BJP by just 18 votes.

In caste-dominated Uttar Pradesh politics, close contests were recorded in 12 of the 85 constituencies reserved for Scheduled Castes candidates.

Of the 12 reserved constituencies, Ghatampur recorded the lowest margin of victory, as Inderjeet Kori of the SP barely managed to win a nail-biting contest by a margin of 700 votes.

42 of the 150 seats in western Uttar Pradesh were won by narrow margin

In 2012 elections, 22 of the 73 western Uttar Pradesh seats were won by a margin of less than three percent of the votes polled. Known to be communally sensitive, especially after the riots of Muzaffarnagar, the Dadri lynching case and alleged exodus in Kairana, western Uttar Pradesh is in the centrestage of this year's elections. In fact, the key accused in the 2013 riots, Suresh Rana, managed to win the Thana Bhawan seat by a margin of a paltry 265 votes. Western Uttar Pradesh went to polls in the first phase of Assembly election on 11 February 2017.

In 2012, however, it was another BJP leader Bimla Singh Solanki, who recorded the lowest margin of victory in the western part of the state. In a close contest with BSP’s Saleem Akhtar Khan, Solanki pulled off a victory in the Sikandrabad constituency by a margin of just 123 votes.

In the second phase of election on 15 February, 67 seats in the Muslim-dominated Rohilkhand region, a part of western Uttar Pradesh, went to polls. Twenty of those seats were won by less than three percent of the total votes polled in the last election. Behat constituency had witnessed a close contest last time, as Mahaveer Singh Rana of the BSP narrowly defeated Naresh of the Indian National Congress by 518 votes. Behat went to polls on 15 February.
